  • Why the Greatest Game Ever is Almost Completely Unknown

One of my favorite games in the world actually isn't a Bioware game. Though nothing can dethrone Baldur's Gate from the pinnacle of video gaming achievement, rooted firmly within my mind, a close second is actually the error-riddled and frankly terrible looking Anachronox. Anachronox is so funny and so clever that it was actually turned into a movie because everyone wanted to enjoy it but no one w... more.
  • Video Games Have Completely Ruined the Way I Drive

While recently driving 400 miles to Dallas, I realized that video games have completely ruined the way I drive. Hailing from Hawaii, I usually don't do much freeway driving. We're a magical place, and all the interstates lead either under lava flows or straight into the depths of the sea. Anyway, due to the reprogramming that has occurred in my brain, driving on the highway has been measurably alt... more.
  • Why Bioware Will Always Be My Favorite Company

From Baldur's Gate to Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate will always be my favorite video game company. To this day, I have regular binges when I play through all the Bioware RPGs from start to finish. It takes a while. RPGs have always been more egalitarian than first-person shooters. As a female gamer, Bioware was the only game company that seemed at all concerned about me. Baldur's Gate, Neverw... more.
  • Why I Haven’t Purchased a Next Generation Console Yet

I haven't purchased an Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or Wii U yet, and strangely all for different reasons. I began my life as a PC gamer. My childhood was spent in Dos Box playing old Final Fantasy games. I played Return to Zork, and I am not over the age of 30. I never had game consoles--girls were never given them as gifts, and I just never took an interest. Why I'm Waiting on the Xbox One When ... more.

I had to ditch my last Wordpress amalgamation because it was simply too bogged down. However, the new layout I'm using isn't exactly interacting with my old media too well. Since my old reviews are, well, old, I'm not even going to bother updating them yet. We shall forge on into the future instead. Onward, ever onward, with the stars our only destination!... more.
  • Red Dead Redemption, Avengers

I'd love to do a full review of Red Dead Redemption, but there are two main problems: 1. I'm about a year late. 2. I've played like, four story missions and keep getting killed by mountain lions. Jesus christ mountain lions are scary. It's a wonder we ever tamed the wilderness at all. I didn't play RDR when it first came out, partially out of disinterest (the wild west was never my thing... more.
  • Kingdoms of Amalur, Mass Effect 3

Kingdoms of Amalur Before being distracted by Mass Effect 3, I was playing Kingdoms of Amalur. And I wanted to write a review for it, I truly did. But despite hours of playtime and a few genuinely good things that I noted about it, I just genuinely could not bring myself to care about the game in any way shape or form. Kingdoms of Amalur plays like someone was writing an MMORPG and then coul... more.

Buckle in, kiddos, this is going to be a long, messy ride. Mass Effect 3, the latest RPG offering from Bioware, has found itself the center of a large controversy that has been covered by everyone from Penny Arcade to whoever runs the game section of Forbes magazine (we're guessing someone's nephew). Never before has the divide between developers and their fans been so great. But Mass Effect... more.

"I just don't get along with other women." It's a common enough cry among IT girls and geek girls, and it's a sure sign that they've internalized the misogyny inherent to society. There are three unspoken statements that go into this: "I just don't get along with other women (1) because other women are lame (2) which I am not because I am special (3) which they can't handle because they're j... more.
